Boho Industrial Wedding at Morgan Manufacturing

Jill and Russell, I don’t even know where to begin to talk about your wedding and planning! We can start with the first time we met in person and all arrived 15 minutes early at the café and laughed about how all three of us are chronically early for every meeting and event in life. Or we could start with Jill and Russell’s sense of humor which had me laughing until my face hurt at all of our meetings. Or maybe we should stop and talk about their effortless personal style which was evident in every little aspect of their wedding day. Yes, let’s start there.

When Jill and Russell came to LK Events, they had just finalized their date and venue with Morgan Manufacturing. The various spaces, skylights, and industrial design won them over and was the perfect backdrop to showcase their Cali-Boho (with a hint of retro) style. Rachel from Life in Bloom was the perfect fit for Jill’s vision of lush greenery, geo style hurricanes and lots of ferns. Russell’s teal green suit and matching boots were the launching point for a little retro flair that continued throughout the wedding day. Just check out their getting ready suites at the Ace hotel – a perfect complement for their style through and through!

The first look is a favorite time of the day for me as a planner. Setting a scene that is comfortable, quiet, romantic and ALL about the couple being together to start their day – it just gives me chills every time I think about it. This first look though – Russell screamed when he saw his stunning bride-to-be. The elation heard across the west loop was so perfect and so fun, just like their relationship. I laughed, I cried, I will not forget it.

Jill and Russell said their vows surrounded by ferns and drenched in sunlight. With Jill’s aunt officiating the ceremony, it was filled with personality and a closeness that enveloped the room. Instead of electing to play traditional ceremony music, we changed things up and the Lakeshore Encores provided a trio complete with electric drums to hit the 808 beats that nailed their love of instrumental hip-hop. I could see each guest getting so excited for the night ahead, with the ceremony music giving major hints about the music to come.

Such an amazing year of planning, such an amazing day. Entertaining Company went above and beyond with innovative Hors d’oeuvres, a modern take on a retro classic chicken kiev, and a major sweets station to finish off the night. Lakeshore Encores had the dance floor packed from start to finish and Maura and John Stoffer captured every detail and then some.
