From the very first minute of talking to Paige about Patrick, their relationship, and their wedding, I knew we would have the most wonderful planning journey together. We started out talking about Paige’s blossoming graphic design and interiors career with Stoffer Home, and then she shared more background on their relationship and engagement. Their love and warmth just absolutely radiated through Paige’s words, and I knew right away this was a wedding I had to be a part of!
Our first item on the to-do list was establishing their wedding date and venue. Paige and Patrick both live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and with Paige’s parents living in Indiana and Patrick’s in California, we began working on plans for a Chicago-centric celebration that would welcome friends and families from coast to coast. We spent time narrowing down venues based on so many factors – size, budget, location, and amenities – and ultimately decided on Revel Motor Row for their ceremony and reception for about 220 guests. Revel Motor Row is a beautifully restored historic building on South Michigan Avenue, and offered P&P the ability to customize their guest experience from start to end.
Working with the talented team at Revel Décor we created a design plan that enhanced the history and grandeur of the building itself with touches unique to Paige &. Patrick. Celebrating on a late summer day, we opted to design the ceremony indoors, set on a beautiful organic asymmetrical open ring of textural blooms and foliage. We brought in personal details throughout the celebration, with touches of lavender (Patrick proposed in a lavender field, after all) dotting the day from a blind letterpress motif seen throughout the printed pieces, to petite bundles of fresh lavender at each place setting. Following an emotional, heartfelt, and funny ceremony guests made their way to the beautiful courtyard for cocktails and mingling while the sun began to set over the horizon before heading inside to a floral and foliage filled dining room completed by a lush, textural, light filled installation over the dancefloor.
Throughout our entire planning process, I loved getting to know not only Paige and Patrick, but their parents as well. Since Patrick’s parents lived in California, all of the planning we did for the rehearsal dinner was over the phone, but when I met Patrick’s parents, I felt like I had known them forever! His dad has the greatest laugh, and his mom gives the most wonderful hugs (remember those?). Paige’s parents, being a bit closer to Chicago, were able to come to town for a few important planning days, where we grabbed lunches between meetings and got to know each other even better. It is not surprise to anyone that building these special, life long relationships is, for me, the absolute best part of this job…besides, of course, standing back during the epic dance party, this time by the Chicago Catz, and having the opportunity to see the joy and love fill the room!
I’m so excited to share these beautiful images from Stoffer Weddings Photography, and the incredible video from A Little Long Distance (a new to me cinematographer that Paige loved, he traveled to Chicago from Colorado for the celebration) Enjoy!!
