Mollie and Dave’s wedding weekend focused on their love for each other and of their family, friends and details. With Mollie being from Wisconsin and Dave’s family owning property in Wisconsin there was no other option that made sense other than to have a tented wedding on Dave’s family’s property.
After their rehearsal at St. Patrick’s Church, Jones Travel brought everyone to the Lady of the Lake for a cruise around the lake during dinner. Lilypots designed wooden box centerpieces of blue hydrangea and mini sunflowers. The musicians of Bourbon Aristocracy entertained their guests while they dined on a yummy lake-style menu including Oven Fried Chicken, Buttered Corn Niblets and Pecan Bars from Gooseberries. Christy and James from Christy Tyler Photography were on board to capture the start of their wedding weekend.
The ladies started their day having their hair and makeup done by Clear Waters Salon and Spa Lake Geneva and Stacey Zielinski while the guys enjoyed a laid back breakfast at the Grand Geneva. And then it was time for Mollie and Dave’s first look with Wedding Party photos to follow. Mollie and Dave had a beautiful ceremony performed by Father Oriol Regales of St Patrick’s Parish and a close family friend, Pastor Ray Carter.
After the Ceremony everyone headed to Dave’s family’s property for a fun and relaxing Cocktail Hour. While Mollie and Dave were out taking photos on the beautiful property their guests were snacking on yummy hors d’oeuvres including a Wisconsin Cheese Station. There were so many fun and thoughtful details for their guests including placing blankets on the wooden picnic benches so no ones clothes would get snagged. Guests were seen playing washers, bags, bocce ball and croquet. Propped up against a tree was a makeshift beer cooler that was the base of a sailboat and of course there were “On Lake Time” koozies to go with the beer. Another special touch was the guest book, which was a map created by the couple of the Cocktail Hour & Reception Grounds for everyone to sign.
When it was time for dinner their guests headed into the tent that Madison Wedding Flowers had turned into a rustic wonderland. The head table was a farm table that was adorned with floating candles and hand-tied garland of Salal, Silver Dollar and both Seeded and Spiral Eucalyptus with white flowers scattered throughout and garland trailing down the sides of the tables. The rest of the farm tables were decorated with a similar garland. The remaining tables had gray linen with floating candles and rectangular wooden boxes that were filled with mixed foliage, succulents and flowers. Pastor Ray Carter started dinner with a blessing and then their harvest salad was served. Mollie’s father and sister and Dave’s brother all gave heartfelt toasts. Dinner was a yummy buffet showcasing Saz’s pulled pork, cherry wood smoked chicken, grilled vegetable kabob and of course cheddar and chive mashed potatoes. Mollie and Dave thanked everyone for being there while Dave took a panoramic photo of the entire room and then they danced to Overwhelmed by Big Daddy Weave. After their dance Mollie danced with her dad and Dave with his mom to Landslide by Fleetwood Mac and then it was time for everyone to get on the dance floor.
When guests weren’t dancing the night away to the music played by Ken Arlen’s Front of the House Band they were often seen enjoying the pies, small bars and cookies baked by Lakeland Bakery. And when they weren’t enjoying a strawberry rhubarb pie, carrot cake bar or chocolate chunk cookie they were found out in front of the tent in the Adirondack chairs by the fire pit making S’mores. Luminaires & Tiki Torches lined the pathways for their guests.
Mollie and Dave worked their tails off on designing all of their paper items and signage themselves. They created the floor plans for Cocktail Hour and the Reception and all of their paper items from the invitations to the escort cards to the welcome booklet in the welcome bags. They made all the signage for the day of including the welcome sign, bathroom signs, “Kalamazoo and Hinsdale” this way signs, menu signs, sweets signs and table numbers.
We were honored to be a part of their wedding and were so glad that Christy Tyler Photography and Corey Lillard including his drone were there to capture all of it. Mollie and Dave’s Wedding was truly unique to them and their family and friends.
