The LK Events team loves proposal stories almost as much as we love weddings! We sat down and brainstormed some advice for popping the big question! This is the beginning of the next chapter of your life and yes, that does imply a certain amount of pressure to make sure the proposal is perfect and that your girlfriend/boyfriend will say YES!
Make It Personal!
If you like quiet nights at home together, propose there. If you like to be at sporting events, go ahead and put the words on the big screen. If you have a special location around the city, get down on one knee there. Your proposal is the first chapter in your engagement and it should be all about the two of you.
Keep It Cool
Make sure you take time to breathe and keep to your normal routine. Try not to act too suspicious leading up to the proposal and give away the big surprise! Remember to actually ask the question and say the words, “Will You Marry Me?”. Yes, this is an emotional time, but your girlfriend/boyfriend want to hear these words!
Snap Some Photos!
We also recommend documenting your proposal, either with a professional photographer or a family member or friend. This moment is one that cannot be recreated and that you’ll want to look back on!
Spread the Love
Not only are the two of you starting your engagement and then married life together, but you are also joining your two families. Make sure to either involve your families with a dinner or party right after the proposal or at least call them together to share the good news!
Hide the Bling
Not that we’re speaking from experience, but if you don’t hide the ring, she will try it on whenever you are not at home. Don’t ruin the element of surprise and pick a good spot!
Consider the Logistics
Have a general idea of what time of year you want to get married. Many venues can book up over a year in advance and if someone’s heart is set on a specific location, you will want to ask the question in time to secure the perfect spot!
In this month of love, we wish you all happiness in the world!
XO,
LK Events
