Karri & Doug, Oak Brook Hills Marriott

As we slowly move into Spring this year, I am reminded of the start of my wedding season last year. Even though we had some weather and flooding concerns the week of Karri & Doug’s wedding, their day dawned with sunshine and good favor. With the couple and their attendants getting ready at The Palmer House Hilton, there were many beautiful areas to capture their “First Look” and wedding portraits. Wally from Timothy Whaley & Associates did an amazing job keeping us on time and soon we were off for photos around the city.

Prairie Trailways provided us with the trolley transportation to the Wells Street Bridge and the Cancer Survivor Park for some “in the moment” photos of Karri & Doug with their attendants. We had a beautiful April day together! Soon we were off to Old St. Patrick’s Church for their gorgeous Catholic ceremony. Once their vows and rings were exchanged, we all ventured to the Oak Brook Hills Marriott with transportation provided by Prairie Trailways.

Karri and Doug took some time for photos on the property before we let guests into the hotel’s tented reception area. Karri had worked with All Flowers by Marisa for the purple and grey décor elements – such stunning vignettes! Guests were able to nosh on a Chilled Seafood Display and Scallops wrapped in Bacon and check out the custom cake topper.  I loved it because Karri & Doug’s humor shone through!  Dinner featured a Roasted Amish Chicken Breast or a Filet Mignon and after some heartfelt toasts, we were ready to begin dancing. The most memorable dance was the Mother/Son dance because Doug’s mother surprised him. While MDM Entertainment started the dance with “In My Life” by the Beatles, the song switched to “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica and Doug’s mother transformed to a headbanger! The guests went crazy over that!

Congratulations again to Karri and Doug…and to their little bundle of joy that will arrive this year!
