Katie and Patrick’s wedding day was one many of us will remember. Not only because this adorable couple started their life together – but it also happened to be 85 degrees in Chicago on St. Patrick’s Day. Loyal to their Irish heritage, Katie and Patrick were wed at Katie’s childhood church in LaGrange followed by a gorgeous reception at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Katie and Patrick were engaged in August of 2011 and were married the following March. Since St. Patrick’s Day was their favorite Holiday we had a few surprises for the guests to recognize the meaningful day that it was. Groomsmen wore plaid ties and matching socks and the bridesmaids were given bright green wool pea coats for their gift from Katie. Who knew it would be one of the warmest March weekends in Chicago and not much use for a wool coat, but the girls loved them. We used Ireland’s cities and landmarks for the guest tables, hung a vintage map of Ireland and incorporated Bells of Ireland into the centerpieces and Katie’s bouquet. We surprised Katie’s father with a bag piper who came into the church during the Recessional and guests loved it!

We had an incredible team of vendors who created the most elegant and classic reception for Katie and Patrick. Food Evolution catered the reception and since Katie had a love for chocolate chip cookies, we served them on a tiered stand to resemble the wedding cake. Patrick worked for Sierra Nevada and we had plenty flowing throughout the day. Fleur Couture created exquisite centerpieces for the tables with shimmering Manzanita branches, soft blush and pink hydrangeas, garden roses and an abundance of candlelight. Spin Productions kept the dance floor packed all night while Chad Husar Photography captured it all!
