Julie’s Birthday Soiree, Chicago Yacht Club

I had the absolute pleasure of helping a past client and dear friend of mine, Julie, plan her Birthday Party last May. While working at Food For Thought, I met Julie and catered many events and parties for her and her family. Julie and I became fast friends and always stayed in touch even as I started LK Events. When she contacted me to help plan her Birthday Bash, I was ecstatic! We love planning social events in the midst of wedding season, especially ones for dear friends and clients like Julie!

Julie chose the Chicago Yacht Club for her black tie affair and the weather could not have been more perfect! Guests sipped champagne, enjoyed hors d’oeuvre and a fabulous raw bar outside on the terrace of the club for cocktail hour, while listening to the fabulous Elaine Dame Quartet. We docked Julie’s best friend’s boat right outside the club so guests could enjoy drinks and food while spending time on his beautiful yacht (which hosted the day after brunch). Inside, guests were serenaded by Elaine’s incredible vocals while enjoying a surf and turf dinner. Tablescapes by Bukiety Floral included hot pink peonies, cherry blossoms and foliage atop navy blue linens, hot pink napkins and customized menu cards and place cards by Rosemary Hall. Spoken Four Band kept the crowd dancing all night under colorful lanterns that hung over the dance floor, thanks to Frost Lighting. Shutterbooth provided entertainment later in the evening while guests munched on Sweet Mandy B’s Cupcakes, Garrets Popcorn, Burgers and Fries for late night.
