Morgan Manufacturing, Brooke & Andrew

Planning Brooke and Andrew’s wedding was one of the highlights of my career. I knew the moment Brooke and her mom called, that we were going to have so much fun together…and be lifelong friends. Brooke is one of the most sincere women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. With Brooke’s impeccable sense of style and (her mom) Sheri’s flawless taste in finding the perfect details to tie everything together, we created a magical experience for their guests.

After meeting in Austin and spending a few years long distance, Brooke and Andrew eventually landed in Chicago to begin their life together. Brooke works for the Neat Method and Andrew works for Ora Interactive. Both from the Chicagoland area, they knew they wanted a Chicago wedding that was unique to their personalities but of course, FUN!

As guests entered Morgan Manufacturing they were greeted with welcome refreshments on a custom (American flag) table to kick off the 4th of July weekend. A “Welcome” floral ring (designed by Sheri) was suspended over the table. We served cucumber water, basil infused lemonade and, St. Germain Fizz (the bride’s favorite cocktail). If guests wanted to hydrate before the long night ahead, we had beautiful custom mini water bottles. One of our favorite décor elements from this wedding was the ceremony in the round. We loved creating this for Brooke and Andrew as it felt like every single guest was a part of the ceremony. It was intimate and inviting.

Brooke carried a hand tied bouquet filled with rich pink peonies, ranunculus, garden roses and textural botanicals designed by Revel Decor. Her bridesmaids complimented by carrying bouquets filled with rich greenery and pops of vibrant floral. Andrew matched his bride with a hot pink ranunculus, which looked dashing against his navy tux.

A trio of magnificent suspended green chandeliers hung from the ceiling with bold botanicals and pops of bright floral. The dining tables complimented the overhead installation with garlands of organic and wild smilax and bright bold peonies, ranunculus, and roses. We completed the look with ambient candles in mixed metals and low lush floral. We had some fun with the photo booth and Revel designed a backdrop of café lights complimented by another floral ring stating “Cheers!”

Brooke and her Mom added so many unique personal touches for the wedding from the guest book cards and signature drink signage, to the escort card frames and who can forget those marvelous suspended rings throughout the venue.

I had the pleasure of working with the most beautiful couple, inside and out, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the “dream team” of event professionals we put together for Brooke and Andrew. Hard to believe it’s almost been one year! Congrats B&A!

Elizabeth & Jason, Peggy Notebaert

Just pinch me because I feel like one of the luckiest girls alive. Every day I wake up and am able to work with amazing couples, like Elizabeth and Jason. While we had a short time together, their love for each other and the love their families had for the two of them is something I will not soon forget.

Elizabeth was able to get ready in her mother’s home and it provided a gorgeous backdrop to her absolutely stunning Jenny Packham gown. It is like the dress was absolutely made for her! I know that Tuan Bui had fun during this Getting Ready session because the light was great and Elizabeth was radiant. Elizabeth and Jason were able to enjoy a private First Look before we put them in a car for more photos at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

Guests began arriving to the museum once photos wrapped up and the ceremony was set. Elizabeth worked with Nancy Krause Floral Designs to provide four altar pieces that were faux mercury glass cylinders with arrangements of dark purple dahlias, peach garden roses, black baccarat roses, dark purple clematis, seeded eucalyptus and assorted greenery. The French Country chairs and altar pieces were the perfect compliment to the Ravine at the museum. There were so many details from the ceremony that were unique to Elizabeth and Jason…from the processional song of “Jynweythek Ylow” to the reading of “A Marriage” by Mark Twain to the handfasting and to having two of their dear friends officiate the ceremony.

After the “I Do’s”, guests made their way indoors for the cocktail hour and noshed on Wisconsin Brat Bites, Charred Shrimp Tacos and Truffled Mac & Cheese in a Parmesan Cone. They were able to meander through the Wilderness Walk and the Butterfly Haven before we called them into the South Gallery for dinner. Nancy and Limelight Catering had worked in collaboration to provide an ethereal garden for the guests. The Head Table was a farm table with an heirloom lace table cloth with the ladies bouquets and white lanterns as an accent. The guest tables featured cascading asymmetrical centerpieces in various containers along with Julia China and Vintage Glassware.

Elizabeth and Jason were introduced into the room to “Little Liza Jane” by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and then cut their wedding cake from Vanille Patissiere. An heirloom handkerchief was the inspiration for the cake design and they captured that beautifully. Elizabeth’s father gave a short welcome to all of the guests and then the entrée of Local Porter-Braised Beef Short Ribs with Stone Ground Cheddar Grits was served. Style Matters had guests on the dance floor until we had to bid our farewell for the evening. Congratulations to Elizabeth & Jason!!

Perrin & Rick, Murphy Auditorium

I find so much joy in helping couples celebrate their love, especially when those couples are so much in love. From the moment I met Perrin and Rick, they exuded romanticism and I knew that their wedding would be the most romantic event.

Perrin and Rick were planning an intimate wedding surrounding themselves with their closest family and friends, which included Rick’s two daughters. They were so darling at the wedding and truly happy for their dad! Perrin loved including them in the day and they all had a great time getting their hair done at Charles Ifergan Salon early in the afternoon.  Perrin then had some time alone to get into her stunning dress, all while Rick spent time with his buddies and daughters.

We had to coordinate the arrival times of both Perrin and Rick, as they chose not to see each other prior to the ceremony. They were both so excited for the day and could not wait to walk down the aisle! From the Processional to the First Dance, Justin from Studio Verite Photography captured all of the details and romantic moments of the day. I love how the streets of Chicago were captured in these photos of Perrin and Rick!

After the heartfelt ceremony at The Murphy Auditorium, everyone made their way to the foyer for the cocktail hour.  The room was flipped and Hall’s brought in all of the custom tables and chairs, while Frost provided more lighting to set the tone of the reception. Botanicals were outstanding in capturing Perrin and Rick’s vision and each centerpiece was a beautiful arrangement. Guests were treated to the culinary delights from Limelight Catering, such as Charred Corn & Shrimp Ceviche and Truffled Mac and Cheese, as well as dinner entrees of Beef Filet and Roasted Alaskan Halibut. After dinner, Perrin, Rick, and all of their guests hit the dance floor with The Nick Kitsos Band. No one wanted the night to end! Congratulations again to Perrin & Rick!
