The Art Institute of Chicago, Erin & Joey

Erin and Joey’s story began while they were both attending the University of Illinois. After college they moved to Chicago and a few years later Joey proposed on their rooftop followed by a romantic dinner out. They celebrated with friends the next day and then the wedding planning began.

They kicked off their wedding weekend with their Rehearsal on the Grand Staircase at the Art Institute followed by their Rehearsal Dinner at III Forks.

Their wedding day started with some pampering for the ladies from the amazing makeup artists and stylists from BrideEyes, Makeup by Beth, and the Charles Ifergan Salon while the guys had a relaxing morning at Erin and Joey’s condo. Amanda Hein Photography was onsite to capture all the special moments of their day.

Erin and Joey had their first look in the beautiful gardens of the Art Institute and then joined their families for photos. Then it was time for these two to get married. While the string quartet played Halo by Beyonce all eyes were on Erin as she walked up the Grand Staircase in a stunning Lela Rose gown with both of her parents. She carried a beautiful bouquet that was a mix of ivory polo roses, white majolica spray roses and white Eskimo roses with delicate white ranunculus blooms tucked throughout.

Hello Darling dressed the dining tables in a mix of ivory shantung, harvest shantung and ivory contessa linens. Some of the tables were decorated with a pair of vintage medium cut glass vases of varying sizes & silhouettes with textural round bouquets of white hydrangea, white stock, white lisianthus, ivory polo roses, champagne sahara roses and ivory majolica spray roses with accents of pale green seeded eucalyptus. Tucked around the blooms were two silver mercury glass candlesticks topped by optic glass hurricanes and a collection of gold and sliver mercury glass votives and globes. The other tables had a pair of silver mercury stemmed glass candlesticks tucked next to a trio of three petite vintage cut glass vases filled with textural round bouquets of white hydrangea, white stock, white lisianthus, ivory polo roses, champagne sahara roses and ivory majolica spray roses with an accent of pale green seeded eucalyptus. Silver and gold mercury glass votives and globes were placed around the candlesticks.

Toast & Jam started the reception with the Wedding Party introductions and then introduced our newlyweds. After the introductions Erin and Joey gave their thank you toast followed by Reverend Jennifer Burns Lewis giving the blessing. The guests were served a lovely duo of a Peeky Toe Crab Salad and a Cheddar Heirloom Tomato Soup. Once the guests were served then Erin’s Maid of Honor & Joey’s Best Man gave their toasts. After the toasts guests dined on Grilled Hanger Steak and Housemade Gnocchi with Heirloom Tomatoes. While guests were dining on their entrees Erin’s Father gave his toast and then danced with his daughter. Then it was Joey’s Fathers turn to give his toast and then Joey danced with his Mother.

We started the party with Erin & Joey’s first dance. After dancing for a bit they cooled themselves off with some yummy gelato from gelato cart provided by Black Dog Gelato Company. Everyone danced the night away until the last song that was played which was Mirrors by JT.

It was an honor being a part of Erin and Joey’s Wedding Day! We wish them all the best, congrats you two!

Danielle & Jeremy, Garfield Park Conservatory

I was so excited when Natalie from Hello Darling referred Danielle and Jeremy to LK Events. Danielle and Jeremy are the sweetest couple and we had so much fun planning their upcoming March nuptials together. They chose Garfield Park Conservatory for their wedding ceremony and reception. They loved the conservatory’s botanical garden feel, especially for a March wedding in Chicago!

We had planned for their “first look” to take place near the Chicago River, which had been dyed green that morning for St. Patrick’s Day. Unfortunately, we had a bit of rain that day, which prevented the outdoor first look from happening. Instead, they saw each other in the hotel lobby surrounded by family and friends. What a special moment that was! Danielle and Jeremy were pleasantly unaffected that it was pouring outside – they were just happy to spend the day together. Since photos couldn’t be taken outside around Chicago, it was just as lovely to take them amidst the lush floral and botanic gardens inside the conservatory.

Danielle and Jeremy’s ceremony was beautiful. Jeremy’s family friend officiated the wedding at the intimate setting in Horticulture Hall. Hello Darling adorned the guests’ dining tables with colorful orchids, succulents, moss and river rocks for an organic garden feel. To top it off, Danielle (being a dancer) choreographed a dance with her bridesmaids as a surprise to Jeremy. It was awesome!! We had a blast planning this one!

Emily & Jeff, Casino Club

Emily and I have been best friends since kindergarten and I cannot begin to describe how excited we were when Jeff proposed to her. Emily was the first of our childhood group of friends to get engaged and when Jeff proposed here in Chicago, we knew the next year was going to be a blast! Emily and Jeff met at the University of Arizona and moved to LA after college to begin their lives together. As much as we miss having her in Chicago, we had the best time planning her wedding, while she was living in LA. Many may find it hard to plan a wedding out of state, however, it really makes the decision making process easier. With Emily’s knowledge of the industry and her best friend as her planner, we were able to efficiently assemble an all star wedding team.

Emily owns her own Stationary and Design studio in LA (Paper Plane Paperie) and has an impeccable sense of style. We planned an intimate ceremony at the Assumption Church and the reception was held at the exclusive Casino Club. Founded in 1914, this Art Deco building tucked behind the Hancock Center is located in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. The club has its original slate black walls and the rooms are filled with vintage furniture and art with modern green, gold and silver accents. We used the Casino Club as our base to build off of the classic and elegant style of this prestigious Chicago venue.

The dress! Just take a look at the photos below and you will know why I will never forget the moment she stepped into that Oscar De La Renta wedding gown. The built in corset, natural waist and flowing silk organza ruffles truly captured Emily’s style and grace. She was exquisite.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the Chicago Racquet Club. Hello Darling designed the floral and décor for both receptions. Emily’s love for moss balls made for quite a laugh during the planning, but the greenery and lush floral were perfect for this setting. It’s not an “Emily” party without Sweet Mandy B’s cupcakes and Home Run Pizza for late night…the guests loved it all! Artisan Events captured every magical moment of Emily and Jeff’s beautiful October wedding weekend. Enjoy!

Sarah & Alan, The Blackstone Hotel

I was thrilled when Sarah called me to help coordinate her wedding. Sarah and I went to high school together and I was so excited to help Alan and her with the plans for their March wedding! Sarah and Alan were both interviewing for their medical residency programs before they tied the knot. Both of them were matched a few weeks before their wedding! It was a busy but yet exciting time for the two of them!

They chose The Blackstone Hotel for their ceremony and reception. The ballroom at The Blackstone Hotel is beautiful – with windows overlooking Grant Park and Lake Michigan and the newly renovated space were perfect for their wedding reception. The incredibly talented Natalie with Hello Darling created the gorgeous ceremony and reception décor. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in Art Hall while we set the ballroom for dinner. Front of House was amazing as always and kept the party going all night long. It was a blast spending the year helping Sarah and Alan. They are the sweetest couple and I know it was hard planning a wedding in Chicago and not knowing where they were going to be moving afterwards! Through it all it was obvious that they were the perfect match. And now that they have started their life as newlyweds in New York it was a real pleasure to have been able to help my high school friend and her new husband.

Congrats Sarah and Alan!
